God bless FIXED. JDH and Dave P have been commandeering NYC dance floors under that moniker for close to 5 years now. Whether holding court in a Greenpoint Polish disco or touring with SMD, it’s a safe bet that bodies will be moving by the time you squeeze in the door. Imagine our delight when we saw the lineup for this week’s party (Annie Mac! Dada Life!) is going down in the basement of the Tribeca Grand. No, not upstairs in the posh Sanctuary space cordoned off by a velvet rope, or in the screening room - we’re returning to the scene of the crime. Secret Rapture gigs, 2many DJ’s (and 2mandy DJ’s) ragers, and suprise Erol Alkan appearances have made the FIXED name legendary - so much so that the space was shut down for the past couple of years. With this sort of lineup, the legends will continue.
FIXED NYC w/ Annie Mac

As we learned last year, Kutsher’s country club is part Shining, part Dirty Dancing, but this time around we’re heading upstate for ATP totally packing Febreze (and some holy water). Plus the chances of us sharing a hotel room wall w/ BJM 2 years in a row are slim to none, right? Right? Shout out to last year’s world’s bestest photo assistant Disconap, and holla to Chocolate Bobka, who will be assuming the role of telephoto lens schlepper / slam dance protector this year.
I am looking forward in particular to seeing Star Death and White Dwarfs again (if there is any justice in the world they will be huge), and purveyors of my never fail happy place gigs: the Flaming Lips! You know, the kind of set where you go home and find copious amounts of glitter and confetti in your underwear. Magical. Listen and learn.

How to tell if a band has heat: book ‘em three supporting gigs as a NYC debut. Watch people lose their proverbial shit the first night so boot them up to a headlining slot for their second. The magical band in question? None other than California’s own WAVVES. The project is the brainchild of Nathan Williams, a San Diego native prone to watching Cops, drinking 40s in the park and recording miles and miles of audio riptides on a 4-track in his bedroom. Lucky for us Fat Possum has picked ‘em up to release the second album WAVVVES (please note the extra V) on March 17th. Download the awesome track “So Bored” and check out Nathan’s blog for blurry tour pictorials of awesome, his Classic Cut selections (JERU THE DAMAJA anyone) and timeless Youtube treasures, like David Byrne interviewing himself. Yes please.
Please note we have no idea what this song is called. Everyone was running on fumes (we stood for 4 hours in one spot), Nathan was losing his voice, but still amazing. Todd P party shout out!
Harbingers of Awesome / Sultans of Swing DJ Never Forget and Terry Diabolik of Finger on the Pulse- true to form- are keeping two steps ahead of us all by bringing over Barcelona’s Sidechains for his US debut TONIGHT! He will be joined by one of our heroes JD Samson (of Men / Le Tigre fame), the American Dream Team & ‘Supster friends the Faction DJs kicking it from London). All for $8 and free champagne from Midnight - 12:30. We’re more than a little stoked for this one. It is ON!

So please bear with us during the recovery. Holla!
