Sometimes You Get To The Gig At EXACTLY The Right Time - Robin S “Show Me Love” Live Video

So Cameron and I had the IMMENSE luck (more like God intervening) in showing up to the Big Beat relaunch party just in time for Robin S. to take the stage (Erm, stripper platform? It was a club on Washington and 12th during Winter Music Conference don’t judge!) and belt out “Show Me Love.” Seriously, we squeezed through the doors as we heard her pick up the mic and people started to cheer. Somehow we slipped up front right during those fabulous opening bars and she ripped into the song. And then she played it again (seriously, the video is below), and it was over. I mean why not live by your hit and a reprise? WE LOVE THIS WOMAN. Spotted: Isa GT and Laetitia *girlcore* getting down front and center! PS Isa’s PA CHIKIRRI EP drops this week on Man Recordings- here’s to the next generation of fabulous divas ala Robin S.!

New Hype Machine Radio Episode Is Up & Midnight Juggernauts Reign Supreme (Welcome Back!)

MJ_GMF_BBz_58.jpg

Let me be the first to NOT post “This New Technology” - all is fair and love and chart countdowns on the Hype Machine, so go forth and stream it (if you’re so inclined)! We’re pretty pleased with this episode. Speaking of which definitely stay tuned for our CMJ party plans. Lineup should be locked down any day now and it’s looking awesome. I might make cupcakes.

PS What’s your fave nickname for the lads? Midnight Truckersluts? The Juggsies? Believe me they’ve heard ‘em all.

FINALLY- Details on the Next Simian Mobile Disco Album & Live Videos from Highline Ballroom Gig

simianmobiledisco_highline.jpg

Download Simian Mobile Disco : Synthesise / No Voodoo Version

3 weeks ago we begged SMD to stop playing with our hearts. Thankfully they listened and here’s what you’re gonna get come August 17th- a full length entitled Temporary Pleasure our on Wichita. As usual it’s a collaborator’s wet dream. The first single ‘Audacity Of Huge’ features vocals from Chris Keating from Yeasayer. No Ninja from the Go Team- this time they added even more Brooklyn to the mix- the aforementioned Yeasayer PLUS Telepathe! Yay! Check it out though from the UK end- Gruff Rhys, ALEXIS TAYLOR and Jamie Lidell. Plus we’ve got our eyes on Young Fathers and you should too.

The album was recorded at the band’s studio in East London throughout 2008 and 2009, when the band weren’t busy touring their live show, DJing and producing. As well as representing the best of UK dance music the record contains some staggering pop anthems, featuring vocal contributions from the likes of The Gossip’s Beth Ditto and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor. The album will be available on LP, CD and deluxe limited edition CD.

Track listing:
1) Cream Dream (featuring Gruff Rhys)
2) Audacity of Huge (featuring Chris Keating)
3) 10000 Horses Can’t Be Wrong
4) Cruel Intentions (featuring Beth Ditto)
5) Off The Map (featuring Jamie Lidell)
6) Synthesise
7) Bad Blood (featuring Alexis Taylor)
8) Turn Up The Dial (featuring Young Fathers)
9) Ambulance
10) Pinball (featuring Telepathe)

Kate Moross will be designing all the artwork for the album and singled. They’ve been confirmed for T in The Park and Lovebox festivals this summer and will be Djing at the following parties.

June
19 - Bugged Out @ Sankeys Soap, Manchester
20 - Bugged Out @ Cable, London

Car Insurance = Rock’n'Roll But Not As Much As Guest Starring on the Adventures of Pete & Pete!

iggypop_abz2.jpg

Welcome to ALL THINGS IGGY. Because you are about to sit through something pretty painful, here is the latest mashup incarnation of ‘The Passenger’ courtesy of Culture Bully. Love it, hate it, call it sacrilege- it’s well done, and if you’re spinning on the LES with a multiple drunk girls repeatedly asking for Katy Perry this should shut ‘em up. After 4 hours sometimes you just give in.

Divide & Kreate : The Kissenger Mp3 (YSI)

and then there’s this AWESOME Twelves remix of BPA aka Brighton Port Authority aka Norman Cook’s single ‘He’s Frank’

BPA feat Iggy Pop : He’s Frank (the Twelves Remix) Mp3 (YSI)

Ok, ready? Brace yourself:

Oh Iggy Pop. I had to redeem your new Swift Cover commercial with an old cameo on Pete and Pete. Viva Nickleodeon!

Oh what the hell, why should Iggy have all the fun? Johnny Rotten did this ‘advert’ for Country Life Butter first. Sigh.

*Exclusive Video From the Kooks Private Rooftop Gig in New York City: NAIVE + IN THE MORNING*

kooks_roof.jpg

I know, I know. We might have chuckled at the Kooks‘ (the Kookey-Kooks!) expense around here before- blame Simon Amstell for that one- but there’s a reason they’re still standing. For me the proof is in ‘Naive’ - NEVER get tired of that tune. It’s beautiful, plugged in, amped up, or simply acoustic w/ Luke and Hugh. Last month we were lucky enough to get asked to their label party bbq and left the big cameras at home upon request. However when we got there we were privy to some photogs that had straight up snuck into the soiree. Call me uptight, but why would you want to go to a party when you weren’t invited and brag about it? End result, they walked off with some tight hi-res shots, but I walked off with video thanks to the mini-digi. Check out the aformentioned ‘Naive’ below, and ‘In the Morning’ after the jump. HOLLA BITCHES!

I Wanna Hear What You, What You’ve Got To Say, Hey-Hey-Hey HEY HEY: The Subways Are BACK!

DSC_4013.jpg

Neither break ups or terminal diagnoses can stop this trio. Billy, Charlotte and Josh consist of our fave Boy-Meets-Girl-Forms-Band-Recruits-Brother-On-Drums whilst still underage UK garage outfit. Young for Eternity indeed! The album drops stateside in September (we’re scratching up our copy here in studio, heavy rotation holla!) so be prepared to be impressed. Keep an eye peeled for a feature on ‘Sup! Here’s the setlist from the Subways’ Gramercy Blender 7/25/08 gig:

Kalifornia / Young For Eternity / Oh Yeah / Alright / Obsession / Mary / I Want To Hear (What You’ve Got To Say) / I Won’t Let Steve Down / Turnaround / (spur of the moment addition of a new track) / With You // ENCORE : Girls and Boys / Rock and Roll Queen

With You - The Subways

OH YEAH, as always the whole set of photos from the aforementioned Subways at Gramercy Blender Theatre gig are *HERE*
