MP3: Gold Panda, “You (Seams Remix)” (via ‘SUP Magazine)

Words by Cameron Cook via ‘SUP Magazine

This summer, among ice-cream doughnut sandwiches from Peter Pan Bakery and attending approximately two rooftop BBQ parties every afternoon, the ‘SUP staff are looking towards the cut-’n'-paste IDM of the UK’s Gold Panda to carry us thought the endless, balmy days.

Have you guys seen Robogeisha? The Seams remix of Gold Panda’s already-cult single “You” is basically the only thing on her built-in iPod Touch. It takes the glitchy Asian flair of the original and puts just enough ambient house behind it to make it somewhat of a dance track, though you can’t really dance because you’ve taken so many downers you feel like your body is encased in a velvety globe of melted honey. Mmm.

Ghostly International are releasing the You EP in the US on June 15th, right before Gold Panda is scheduled to go on a full American tour supporting HEALTH. It’s gonna be a wild one.

Sometimes My Job is Super Easy : Check Out Photographer Pedro Ramos’ Circle Pit Shots!

cp_supmag_pr_10.jpg

See, the system really does work. On a ‘cold call’ (cold email?) Pedro Ramos reached out to ‘SUP about contributing from Australia. We said ’sure’ and before I knew it he turned in the gorgeous film scans of Sydney based band Circle Pit. See the whole set over on the ‘SUP Magazine site complete with interview by James Kritzler- it’s utterly inspiring (zomgosh Bondi Beach)! and not everyday that you’ll find a band that trusts you enough to strip to their skivvies.

*Exclusive Video From the Kooks Private Rooftop Gig in New York City: NAIVE + IN THE MORNING*

kooks_roof.jpg

I know, I know. We might have chuckled at the Kooks‘ (the Kookey-Kooks!) expense around here before- blame Simon Amstell for that one- but there’s a reason they’re still standing. For me the proof is in ‘Naive’ - NEVER get tired of that tune. It’s beautiful, plugged in, amped up, or simply acoustic w/ Luke and Hugh. Last month we were lucky enough to get asked to their label party bbq and left the big cameras at home upon request. However when we got there we were privy to some photogs that had straight up snuck into the soiree. Call me uptight, but why would you want to go to a party when you weren’t invited and brag about it? End result, they walked off with some tight hi-res shots, but I walked off with video thanks to the mini-digi. Check out the aformentioned ‘Naive’ below, and ‘In the Morning’ after the jump. HOLLA BITCHES!
