MP3: Yeasayer - O.N.E. (Clancy & Build Remix)

yeasayermhow2010.jpg
Rehosted as requested by ‘SUP!

How’s about a little Friday pick me up then? Fresh from blowing our little minds at Primavera Sound last week, Yeasayer have been remixed by new electro duo on the block, Clancy & Build, and we’ve been given the exclusive mp3 to download.

We’ve been dancing throughout the spring to the afrobeat joyness of “O.N.E.” and now it’s been chopped up and given a jolt of synths and electro stylings, making it even more perfect for the dancefloor.

And it’s a ‘SUP exclusive as it’s the first track that remixer/DJs Clancy & Build have produced together. Both producers have been blowing up the blogs with their previous ’80s-tinged remixes for the likes of Empire of the Sun, Phoenix, Delphic and Annie, and their first outing together is a match made in electronic heaven. As two heads are always better than one, non?

MP3: Marina and the Diamonds, “I Am Not A Robot” (Clock Opera Remix) via ‘SUP Magazine!

marinadiamonds.jpg

London chop-shop auteurs Clock Opera have done it again, this time laying hands upon Marina and the Diamonds‘ new single “I Am Not A Robot.” In matters of remixes that just might trump the originals, these lads are living proof that lightening strikes more than once. Zap! All of this leads up to Clock Opera’s own 7″ release of A Piece of String dropping June 7th on Maman Records. One can only imagine if they’re this good at bringing out the best in other people’s material, that their own stuff will be nothing short of amazing.

Mixtape: Wake Up! by Team Rojas

Ready for the weekend? Enter Team Rojas - aka EDG4R (Edgar Rojas) and STRAVINSKY (Erick Rojas) - who were kind enough to save the day with this very special mixtape entitled Wake Up! As the name suggests, we highly recommend starting your morning with these deep Boogie cuts. Now we can’t provide you with a convertible or a beach to drive alongside, but we can give you the soundtrack. See? The day looks better already. The Future’s so bright…

Be sure to check out ‘SUP’s video interview with Team Rojas at WMC 2010 - by far our fave discovery this year.

The Last Time LCD Soundsystem Played NYC…

lcd_soundsystem_abz1.jpg

There have been rumblings (and last minute guestlist requests- you know who i’m talking about) regarding LCD Soundsystem playing Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight. 1st off, CONGRATULATIONS LIGHT ASYLUM ON THE OPENING SLOT!!! DAMN! 2ndly, ‘SUP will be holding down the fort at Penguin Prison ’s Mercury gig across the river. Why? Well it’s Penguin’s first ever live show…. and the last time we saw LCD it was one of the most amazing experiences a concertgoer could ever ask for. Check video clips from string of last great NYC shows in 2007. When have you seen kids going that crazy at Bowery? PS this was the week I got my point and shoot camera with video capabilities and obvs hadn’t mastered the whole ‘filming the whole song’ bit yet. Let’s just say I came, I saw, I picked up the Planning To Rock t-shirt.

Sometimes You Get To The Gig At EXACTLY The Right Time - Robin S “Show Me Love” Live Video

So Cameron and I had the IMMENSE luck (more like God intervening) in showing up to the Big Beat relaunch party just in time for Robin S. to take the stage (Erm, stripper platform? It was a club on Washington and 12th during Winter Music Conference don’t judge!) and belt out “Show Me Love.” Seriously, we squeezed through the doors as we heard her pick up the mic and people started to cheer. Somehow we slipped up front right during those fabulous opening bars and she ripped into the song. And then she played it again (seriously, the video is below), and it was over. I mean why not live by your hit and a reprise? WE LOVE THIS WOMAN. Spotted: Isa GT and Laetitia *girlcore* getting down front and center! PS Isa’s PA CHIKIRRI EP drops this week on Man Recordings- here’s to the next generation of fabulous divas ala Robin S.!

FIXED NYC Goes Back To The Tribeca Grand Basement With Annie Mac

fixed_anniemac.jpg

God bless FIXED. JDH and Dave P have been commandeering NYC dance floors under that moniker for close to 5 years now. Whether holding court in a Greenpoint Polish disco or touring with SMD, it’s a safe bet that bodies will be moving by the time you squeeze in the door. Imagine our delight when we saw the lineup for this week’s party (Annie Mac! Dada Life!) is going down in the basement of the Tribeca Grand. No, not upstairs in the posh Sanctuary space cordoned off by a velvet rope, or in the screening room - we’re returning to the scene of the crime. Secret Rapture gigs, 2many DJ’s (and 2mandy DJ’s) ragers, and suprise Erol Alkan appearances have made the FIXED name legendary - so much so that the space was shut down for the past couple of years. With this sort of lineup, the legends will continue.

FIXED NYC w/ Annie Mac
Friday, October 2nd
2 Ave of the Americas
10 PM to 4 AM
Free with RSVP to: weare138nyc@yahoo.com

and for your SUPASONIC daily dose of awesome:

FINALLY- Details on the Next Simian Mobile Disco Album & Live Videos from Highline Ballroom Gig

simianmobiledisco_highline.jpg

Download Simian Mobile Disco : Synthesise / No Voodoo Version

3 weeks ago we begged SMD to stop playing with our hearts. Thankfully they listened and here’s what you’re gonna get come August 17th- a full length entitled Temporary Pleasure our on Wichita. As usual it’s a collaborator’s wet dream. The first single ‘Audacity Of Huge’ features vocals from Chris Keating from Yeasayer. No Ninja from the Go Team- this time they added even more Brooklyn to the mix- the aforementioned Yeasayer PLUS Telepathe! Yay! Check it out though from the UK end- Gruff Rhys, ALEXIS TAYLOR and Jamie Lidell. Plus we’ve got our eyes on Young Fathers and you should too.

The album was recorded at the band’s studio in East London throughout 2008 and 2009, when the band weren’t busy touring their live show, DJing and producing. As well as representing the best of UK dance music the record contains some staggering pop anthems, featuring vocal contributions from the likes of The Gossip’s Beth Ditto and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor. The album will be available on LP, CD and deluxe limited edition CD.

Track listing:
1) Cream Dream (featuring Gruff Rhys)
2) Audacity of Huge (featuring Chris Keating)
3) 10000 Horses Can’t Be Wrong
4) Cruel Intentions (featuring Beth Ditto)
5) Off The Map (featuring Jamie Lidell)
6) Synthesise
7) Bad Blood (featuring Alexis Taylor)
8) Turn Up The Dial (featuring Young Fathers)
9) Ambulance
10) Pinball (featuring Telepathe)

Kate Moross will be designing all the artwork for the album and singled. They’ve been confirmed for T in The Park and Lovebox festivals this summer and will be Djing at the following parties.

June
19 - Bugged Out @ Sankeys Soap, Manchester
20 - Bugged Out @ Cable, London

Check out the rest of the Simian Mobile Disco live on April 23rd 2009 at Highline Ballroom New York City gigs *HERE*
