Photos / Video from Ed Banger Crew (Justice, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, Sebastian) & The Presets at Hiro

The end result? People DO indeed dance and don’t just stand here like this. Pretty refreshing to squeeze into a packed gig where people actually have both hands in the air. Check out the myspace comments *here*, which pretty much all say ‘last night was pure sex!’ Mon dieu I’m just glad I didn’t trip down those damn sobriety test stairs backstage with the high def cam. Anyway a chunk of music kids were in the crowd so please check out the usual suspects for an actually relevant music write up- but only after you stare at the pretty pictures. Best News? Ecoutez-moi! Justice Set to Release Soundtrack to Your Life… or at Very Least the Summer, Yeah!

According to Disconap Xavier and Gaspard are in posession of the next ‘Around the World’ with their upcoming single ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ and I effing believe it. Disclaimer according to the band though: the mp3 floating around the internet entitled ‘original’ is actually a leaked demo version, so I’m not going to hotlink it. Keep an eye peeled for the next print issue of ‘Sup complete w/ plenty of Ed Banger lovin’ (Uffie! Justice! Justice! Uffie!), and in the meantime check out some of the resulting shots after the jump. Read it *here*- be shure to check out the Reykjavik! shots. Think Blood Brothers but danceable, comes w/ a Bowie cover of ‘Changes’ that leaves you seeing stars. Wouldn’t dream of getting stranded in an airport w/ another band ever again!

iheartcomix? we heart dj franki chan too, austin style!

We were psyched to hear that one of our fave LA shindigs would be representin’ out at SXSW, and tried our damndest to make it east of the highway in time each night. One good thing about an iheartcomix party is that it ain’t over til it’s over or until the cops shut it down- which, let’s face it, was totally the plague of this year’s festival after Day 1. People dance like no one’s looking no matter how empty the dancefloor is and how much liquor has been spilled. What better way to end a 15 hour shoot than to chill out to Peaches spinning, give Franki a hug hello and to gaze at your own reflection in the sopping wet floor knowing full well that there’s an ice cream truck idling outside… (read more)

The Fratellis Need a Nap & So Do I: Mercury Lounge NYC Night 2 Show Photos by Abbey Braden

Pointy toed boots were out in full force last night on the, well, last night of the Fratellis’ epic tour. That’s got to be surreal- you hit the road, and in the interim Apple snags a single for the latest iPod shadow dancing commercial , and Rolling Stone names you one of the 10 bands to watch in 2007. No wonder these lads looked like it was time for a nap. However any glimpse of grumpiness was quickly shoved aside whenever they hit a chorus, proving it’s just about impossible to pout and unleash multiple Da da dah, doh doh doh, dah dah dah doh doh doh doh ’s on an eager audience… (read more)

Finally the footage from your fave annual night at the Knitting Factory is being unveiled: I give you (drumroll…) Air Guitar Nation . You know you want to get yer own name *here* Let’s face it, can’t be any worse than the drag queen name generator. Remember that one? The name of your first pet and the street you grew up on? Thanks to my first goldfish Mickey Finn, and a very happy childhood on Oahu, mine was Mickey Kamoku. Total drag king name for the ages. Obvs I am much more thrilled with this one…
