Gray Kid & G.A.M.E. Rebellion at Southpaw Brooklyn

One of those shows where you get multiple flyers, myspace messages and press kits only to remind you that it’s sold out. Looming warnings that you sure as hell better get there early, only to cough up 15 bucks for a cab to find that you’re the first to arrive at the venue. Trying not to drink for a bit, and it’s soooooo painful when you’re one of 3 people in a bar so I had to resort to marathon texting. Lame, I know, but not as lame as another lost weekend. With this in mind by the time the gig kicked off - over an hour and 3 ginger ales later, I was more than ready to be entertained. Gray Kid opened, and as far as we’re concerned we could have gone home afterwards because he was effing phenomenal. But then G.A.M.E. Rebellion (Hide Ya Jewlz!) hopped onstage to finish the one-two punch to my synapses; the crowd loved every sweaty guitar riff that unfurled before them. Dragons of Zynth headlined. Keep an eye peeled on Ice Cream Man for that review. You better pray that Gray Kid comes back east this summer. More photos after the jump! … (read more)
