The Duke Spirit played Mercury last night. They play Union Hall this evening. Make it the best Valentine’s day ever and head on over to that fabulous venue. ANYWAY the set was amazing, enough to make me forget that the Kills played Bowery 48 hours ago. Liela Moss & Co are a gale force to be reckoned with. Here is our ‘Neptune’ guerilla video we snuck. WE R Towtally ListeningZ TooOO Radiohea_d RAINYDAYZ reMIXEs by AMP_LIVE 2day lolz……
FOR SEVERAL REASONS
1) It’s raining. Duh.
2) We’ve been waiting months for 1776, a NYC-based music and media solutions company ‘too busy destroying trends to follow them,’ to pop.
3) What better way to launch than with Amplive’s reworking of Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows.’ This humble Bay Area producer got bitchsmacked with a cease and desist from the label when his remixes started circulating… but the band heard his plea and the rest is history.
4) Weird Fishez fulfills any tronic kid’s wet dream of Thom Yorke gone scratch-happy. The result is sublime and far less creepy than that ole ‘Rabbit in Your Headlights’ track. Video Tapez, featuring Del the Funky Homosapien, is exquisite. Tracks are available, one by one, from Amplive’s MYSPACE and his iLike iCast.

Foals pretty much sound like GANG OF FOUR having a quickie with THE RAPTURE. Not sure if that quantifies as the second coming of MATH ROCK but as you can see from the vids, the crowd is loving every guitar lick. In fact so much so… that I think I’m gonna skip their Bowery set coming up on Tuesday so that kids can really flail about surrounded by equally enthusiastic people. Same goes for the Kooky-Kooks. I got ‘em last time. S’all about the Women in Music shindig!
