PELLE CARLBERG @ LUNA :: Photos From the 1st US Gig :: Catch them @ Delancey Next Sat 6/2 !!

Lucky us indeed: one of the acts included in NYC Popfest’s Sunday afternoon showcase featured none other than Pelle Carlberg in his first US appearance. Accompanied by a stellar Henrik Nilsson on bass, harmonica and kick drum (or kick suitcase?) Pelle rendered the stodgiest hipsters putty in the palm of his hand. Seriously, when have Luna Lounge’s walls ever seen a mob chanting ‘One more song!’ and howling when there was no time to oblige? Formerly of Edson, Pelle is currently in the states touring in support of his solo release ‘In a Nutshell,’ out now on Labrador Records. Speaking of Labrador, for those who haven’t been enlightened, they are home to such Swedish superpowers as Acid House Kings, Loveninjas, Suburban Kids with Biblical Names… pretty much one of my fave rosters out there. Anyway hop like a bunny over to Twenty Seven records *here* to give ‘Clever Girls Like Clever Boys Much More Than Clever Boys Like Clever Girls’ a listen. More photos after the jump, and audio of a lovely cover of ‘Rocket Man.’
