Listen it’s no secret around here how much we love BONNAROO. It’s been Green since day 1, it’s in the middle of nowhere so there’s no curfew and any band can jam until 5:30 AM, and with all the tents and huts and barns and stuff air conditioning really can be found. Plus there’s a Waffle House if you can hitch a ride off the festival grounds. Ergo, j’adore. We’re not the only one to unabashedly support this endeavor. Bonnaroo consistently gets rated as the best fest in the US & 2009 ain’t gonna be any different- it’s got something for EVERYone. Phish headlines 2 nights with David Byrne (AAAH!!!) and Nine Inch Nails, MGMT will be back, Beastie Boys, Animal Collective, Chairlift, Paul Oakenfeld, and Erykah ‘Twitty Milk’ Badu will be in the [ka-razy] house, and if you’re lucky the Boss will t-bag you all. Seriously I haven’t seen Phish since like, the Mullins Center in 1995? Before you get all snotty Trustifarian ‘Wait you weren’t at the New Years MSG show in ‘97′ on me, my first real gig was Phish when they played the SPS dining hall in ‘89 or ‘90. They were selling cassette tapes of Junta by the doors to the kitchen and my brother helped them load in. I’d say ’so stick that in your pipe and smoke it’ but if you cared enough to read this far you probably already have. Heh. Long live Llamas and Tweezers and all that jazz. Even if you’re not a fan of Phish, you need to have this track in your arsenal. 20 years later it’s still my happy place. The sound is almost too clear, it’s definitely best heard over the roar of a crowd.
